The Ultrasound Division of the Department of Radiology at Winthrop-University Hospital provides clinical
rotations for two separate programs: (1) the Diagnostic Medical Imaging Program of the State University of New
York Downstate Medical Center and (2) the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program of the Western Suffolk BOCES
( New York State’s Board of Cooperative Educational Services). Student from both programs receive supervised
clinical experience in performing a wide variety of ultrasound examinations during their rotation through our
Ultrasound Division.
The Diagnostic Medical Imaging Program of the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center is a
two-year program that offers a Bachelor of Science degree and is accredited by the Joint Review Committee of
Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography and upon graduation students are qualified to take the registry
examinations given by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. For further information write

The Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program of the Western Suffolk BOCES is a two-year certificate program that
is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs in collaboration with the American Medical
Association. The School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography is an integral part of the School of Radiological Sciences
at the Department of Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center, Northport, NY. Upon graduation students are qualified to
