Pediatric Radiology

Pediatric Radiology is a separate section within the Department of Radiology. There is a full time board certified Pediatric Radiologist with a Certificate of Added Qualification in Pediatric Radiology.

All fluoroscopic studies, plain radiographs and ultrasounds in children ranging in age from newborn to 18 years are reviewed daily. We have a new state-of-the-art fluoroscopic room especially designed for pediatric patients. All ultrasound units are state-of-the-art with transducers selected for the pediatric patient. A separate ultrasound machine is housed in the neonatal intensive care nursery. This designated pediatric unit is used for neonatal examinations, echocardiography and is available for portable examinations in the pediatric intensive care unit.

There is a close working relationship with the Pediatric Department and all pediatric subspecialties - pediatric oncology, pediatric surgery, pediatric urology, pediatric neurology, pediatric orthopedics, pediatric gastroenterology, pediatric pulmonary and pediatric emergency room. Ward rounds are conducted with the pediatric staff on the medical floor as well as the neonatal intensive care unit each morning.

The Pediatric Radiology Section participates in conferences sponsored by the Department of Pediatrics. An elective in Pediatric Radiology is available for pediatric residents. Third and fourth year medical students have the opportunity to rotate through pediatric radiology during their radiology clerkships.
